BIGBIM APPROACH
BIG BIM is the result of a 10 year investment in BIM that we have chosen to share with the professionals and organisations involved in a building’s lifecycle.This investment has included research into efficiency influencers from the automotive and aerospace industries and a re-evaluation of the traditional design and build process.
Ultimately, BIG BIM moves beyond design and build, using a single integrated data model that works across a four stage interlinked cycle.
Define and Validate
By using all of the tools available, such as energy modelling, we are able to test and validate the parameters of a project before we embark on design work. Technology assists in the defining of the brief and performance criteria whilst resolving any conflicts in time, cost and quality.
Prototype and Design
We use this stage to test the options and construct buildings virtually. By prototyping, we can optimise the design and have real confidence in the delivery and operation of the facility.
MANUFACTURE AND ASSEMBLE
Rather than follow the traditional methods of construction, we make use of offsite construction techniques to allow us to assemble pre fabricated components on site. We also maximise use of technology, testing programming and sequencing.
OPERATE AND MAINTAIN
BIG BIM assists in testing the operation and maintenance of a building long before it is complete, providing us with real data of a building’s performance and helping us to ensure the building functions to its potential.
