BIM Technologies is Re-certified with a Cyber Essentials Plus Certification

BIM Technologies is dedicated to advancing Building Information Modelling (BIM), offering support and guidance to clients undergoing digital transformation. Our Cyber Essentials Plus (CE+) certification demonstrates our adherence to the highest standards of cybersecurity. While the basic ‘Cyber Essentials’ certification involves self-assessment, the Plus certification recognises BIM Technologies’ proactive approach and commitment to optimum digital security.

Cyber Essentials is a government-backed set of technical controls designed to help organisations protect themselves, their teams, and clients from common, preventable digital security threats. After achieving the basic Cyber Essentials certification, organisations can progress to Cyber Essentials Plus, the scheme’s highest level, which further enhances credibility and reliability by demonstrating they are categorically committed to security.

There are five fundamentals of Cyber Essentials:

  • Security Update Management – Ensuring that all devices and operating systems, including servers, desktops, laptops, tablets, phones, firewalls, and routers, are kept up to date.
  • User Access – Managing user accounts so that only authorised individuals can access sensitive data. This often involves strong passwords and the use of two-factor or multi-factor authentication (MFA).
  • Firewalls & Internet Gateways – Securing networks by configuring firewalls and internet gateways to block unauthorised access and detect suspicious activity.
  • Secure Configuration – Removing unnecessary software and disabling unused accounts to ensure all systems are securely set up.
  • Malware Protection – Using reputable anti-malware solutions and threat detection tools to identify and neutralise threats from malicious websites and software.

Any Cyber Essentials accreditation signals that a company is actively working to protect its systems from cyber-attacks. Earning the CE+ label, however, demonstrates an even greater commitment to cybersecurity.

CE+ provides greater assurance that systems and controls are effectively configured and functioning as intended. This certification is especially suited for larger organisations handling sensitive data or for businesses within regulated or government-funded sectors such as healthcare, finance, or critical infrastructure.

Reflecting on the importance of the certification, Anthony Harte, Director at BIM Technologies, said:

“Cybersecurity is fundamental to the way we operate as a digital consultancy. The work we deliver relies on the secure management of project information, models and data, often across multiple partners and platforms. Achieving Cyber Essentials Plus was important to us from the outset because it demonstrates that we are willing to go the extra mile to protect that information and provide an additional layer of assurance for our clients. Recertification matters just as much. It shows that these standards are not a one-off achievement but part of how we operate day to day. As the digital landscape continues to evolve, we will keep strengthening our systems and pursue further accreditations that allow us to remain ahead of emerging risks while continuing to deliver for our clients and partners.”

At BIM Technologies, we are proud to announce our recertification of CE+, a badge we wear with integrity. We recognise that working on high-profile projects increases our risk of a cyber security attack, and we have implemented thorough measures to mitigate these threats.
