The Institute for Advanced Automotive Propulsion Systems (IAAPS) brings a world-class R&D facility to the Bath and Bristol Science Park. A versatile innovation hub where the University and industry can work together flexibly develop new solutions while addressing the sector’s engineering skills gap.

BIM Technologies were appointed at pre-construction as Information Managers and BIM Coordinators under Rydon as the main contractor. With a fast-paced programme and a wide array of MEP systems split into Shell & Core and Specialist Fit-out packages, it was essential to ensure 3D coordination to the highest degree before progressing with offsite manufacturing of key systems. BIM Technologies and the Rydon team collaborated with the designers and specialist supply chain members to achieve a highly coordinated set of models that will now be delivered to the facility operators as a digital record of the building that can be used during operations.

BIM Technologies’ information management was also a key priority for the end client as they envisioned the ongoing management of this complex facility to be future-proof and digitised.
